What types of services does Skilled Handyman Services provide?
We handle a wide range of home repairs and improvements including drywall repair, painting, carpentry, deck repairs, door and trim installation, plumbing fixture swaps, ceiling fan installations, fence repairs, and more. If you don’t see your project listed, just ask — we likely do it.
How do I know if my project is something a handyman can do?
Most small to mid-sized home repairs fall under handyman services. If the project doesn’t require a permit, major structural work, or licensed trades beyond what we provide, we can handle it. If something requires a licensed plumber or electrician, we’ll let you know and help guide you.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes — we provide free, no-obligation estimates. For larger projects, we may schedule an on-site visit to ensure accurate measurements and pricing.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Skilled Handyman Services is a registered Colorado LLC, fully insured, and all staff are background checked for your peace of mind.
How quickly can you schedule my repair?
Most repairs can be scheduled within a few days, depending on the scope of work. Larger projects may require advance scheduling, but we always work to get your repair handled as quickly as possible.
How do you price your services?
We provide upfront pricing based on labor and materials. Simple repairs are typically quoted as fixed-rate jobs, while larger or more complex projects may be quoted based on time and materials.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, for jobs over $500. A 50% deposit is required to schedule the job, with the remaining balance due at completion.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit/debit cards, cash, and electronic payments. Payment is due when the job is completed unless otherwise noted in your estimate.
Will my quote change once the job starts?
Only if something unexpected is discovered during the repair. We always get approval before proceeding with additional work.
Do you charge a service fee or trip charge?
No. We do not charge trip fees. You only pay for the work you approve.
Do I need to be home during the repair?
Not always. For smaller repairs, many clients provide access instructions. For larger projects, we may require someone present at the start or completion.
What should I do to prepare for the appointment?
Clear the immediate work area and remove any fragile items or valuables. If special preparation is needed, we’ll tell you ahead of time.
How long will my repair take?
Most small repairs are completed in one visit. Larger projects like drywall installation, painting, or deck repairs may take longer depending on drying time and materials.
Will you clean up after the job?
Absolutely. We clean up our workspace, remove debris, and leave your home as neat as we found it.
What if the weather impacts my outdoor project?
For outdoor work like decks, fences, or exterior carpentry, we monitor weather closely. If rescheduling is needed, we’ll notify you promptly.
Who provides the materials?
We typically supply all necessary materials to ensure quality and accuracy. However, if you already have certain materials picked out (like fixtures), we can install those as well.
Do you offer warranties on your work?
Yes. We offer workmanship guarantees on all services. If something isn’t right, call us and we’ll make it right.
Do you purchase materials from Home Depot or Lowe’s?
Yes. We source materials from trusted suppliers including Home Depot, Lowe’s, and local lumber yards depending on the job type.
Can you help me choose the right materials?
Absolutely. If you’re unsure about paint types, drywall thickness, lumber options, or hardware choices, we’ll guide you to the best option for your project.
Do you remove old or damaged materials?
Yes. We remove and dispose of damaged drywall, old fixtures, broken deck boards, and other materials as part of the service unless otherwise noted.
Are your technicians background checked?
Yes. All staff and subcontractors are fully background checked for your safety and peace of mind.
Do you alert clients if chemicals or paints will be used?
Yes. Skilled Handyman Services will alert you if chemicals, paint, sealants, or stains will be used. It is the client’s responsibility to inform us of allergies or sensitivities.
Do you work with property managers or real estate agents?
Yes — we regularly work with property managers, agents, home sellers, and landlords.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Castle Rock, Douglas County, and nearby surrounding communities. If you’re unsure if you’re in our service area, just ask.
Do you offer emergency repair services?
For urgent situations like leaks, hazardous damage, or critical safety risks, we do our best to accommodate same-day requests. An additional fee may be required for such emergency dispatches.
